New study: Low Energy Shock Wave Therapy Induces Angiogenesis in Acute Hind-Limb Ischemia via EGF Receptor 2

The researcher team led by J. Holfeld investigated if shock wave treatment has an effect in acute ischemia as it has in chronic ischemic heart disease. The team used mice with induced hind-limb ischemia and treated them with shockwaves. The results showed higher protein levels of different factors e.g. VEGF-A and PIGF, leading to a higher vessel density. Read more
